You can easily share any chart created in Analyst’s Notebook or IBM i2 TextChart using ChartReader. With ChartReader you can open, search and print your charts without the need for Analyst’s Notebook to be installed.
Recipients can view a read-only version of your chart, which they can navigate, search and print. They can even search for and read information behind chart entities and links.
ChartReader provides a common platform on which to share your charts across the whole investigative team, whether internally or externally.
This significantly enhances the communication process by allowing all the relevant parties to share a considered approach based on a common analytical product.
Over 2,000 law enforcement, government, military, intelligence and commercial organizations rely on IBM i2 software, making ChartReader the perfect solution for sharing intelligence securely between agencies.
Key Benefits
- Undertake effective entity-link extraction and visualization of unstructured data - identify real world objects including entities, links and their corresponding properties information, transforming unstructured content into structured, analysis-ready data.
- Transform text-based information into an easy-to-understand graphical format - quickly create a visual representation of what would otherwise be a mass of written reports.
- Achieve accurate and consistent data abstraction from text-based sources - the accuracy of data capture is improved as data is extracted from the source documents; no re-typing or transcription is required, resulting in fewer errors.
- Uncover high value information held in unstructured data sources quickly - tap into unstructured information that would otherwise go unused, and share marked up documents across the investigating team, empowering analysts to make informed decisions.
- Populate searchable charts and databases without having to re-key information - the output from IBM i2 TextChart can be used within other IBM i2 tools, accelerating the analytical process. IBM i2 TextChart output can be opened in IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook®, IBM i2 ChartReader and IBM i2 ChartExplorer, and can also be transferred into IBM i2 iBase databases using file update or a live connection.
- Streamline the input of unstructured free-text information into data repositories - the speed of data capture is more efficient due to the optimized data capture process, thereby increasing user productivity.

Key Functionality
- Document Reading and Conversion facilities that enable you to review Plain Text, Rich Text, HTML, PDF, Microsoft® Word, Microsoft® Excel, WordPerfect and OpenOffice/StarOffice Write and Calc document formats. For processing purposes, electronic documents are converted into a suitable form and then presented for on- screen mark up. Document conversion results in a copy of the original document meaning that the integrity of the original document is maintained.
- Document Mark up and visualization is a simple case of highlighting those details to be represented and visualized. Charts are used to provide a visual representation of a document's content. Information is manually extracted from documents, and used to generate a chart through the creation of icons, event frames, theme lines, links and properties. In this way, a visual image is created from the documents.
- Integration with IBM i2 iBase enables users involved with data capture operations to push unstructured content held in iBase into IBM i2 TextChart and interactively build visualization. To make the information available for inclusion in the analysis process, the content of the visualizations can then be transferred into an iBase database using iBase Live, a real-time connection between iBase and IBM i2 TextChart, or though the file update facility IBM i2 TextChart output can also be integrated with 3rd party databases using IBM i2 TextChart SDK. Read more on iBase Live.
- Out of the box predefined standard template that contains commonly used entities, links, and properties meaning that you can start visualizing content immediately. A designer tool, provided as part of the product, allows you to create and modify existing templates to fulfil specific requirements.
- Powerful search tools facilitate the mark-up process by allowing you to easily locate specific text, identical and similar entities, related mark-ups or related chart items within documents using the "synonym", "sounds like" and "spelled like" capabilities. Subsequent documents can be automatically scanned for existing chart items to further expedite the process.
