IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook is i2’s award winning visualization and analytical product that not only allows users to create visualization charts but gives them the tools required to further analyze the information held within their charts.

In conjunction with compatible IBM i2 products, Analyst’s Notebook allows users to include and reference information from electronic data sources.

The ability to visualize this information in Analyst’s Notebook charts is extremely important to many users that have access to a multitude of data sources.

Proven in defence, law enforcement and commercial organizations world-wide, Analyst's Notebook has become a de facto standard for the exchange of information between agencies.

Key Benefits

  • Powerful visualization

You can quickly visualize large volumes of disparate data and turn it into meaningful information, revealing a clear picture of what your data is telling you.

  • Communicate complex relationships intelligibly

You can communicate complex relationships in an easy to understand chart allowing anyone to understand even the most complex of investigations, making this a valuable tool for use in the courtroom, in presentations and briefings. Enhance charts with maps, images, sound clips, photographs, videos or documents to ensure all information is communicated.
  • Save valuable time by automatically generating charts

You can save valuable time by automatically generating charts from existing data sets. Import from structured text files, send data from IBM i2 iBase databases or send data from third party sources when utilizing IBM i2 iBridge or IBM i2 iXa.
  • Extract maximum intelligence from your data

You can obtain the maximum value from your data by using the advanced analysis tools to analyze your investigation from a high level overview right down to the smallest detail. You can find association paths; identify clusters, find matching items, or construct visual searches for your investigation. A range of different chart layouts allows you to see facts, events and associations from different perspectives. This facilitates the identification of patterns and trends, ensuring you extract maximum intelligence from your data
  • Intuitive Analysis

Visualize information as Entities (objects) and Links (relationships), matching the way people think about real-world objects and making analysis more intuitive.

Key Functionality

  • Rapid chart creation

Charts can quickly be created by dragging and dropping entities, links and attributes onto the chart. The palette bar provides the user with a selection of entities and attributes which they can drag onto the chart surface.

  • Intuitive Data Importing

Analyst's Notebook allows you to automatically generate charts by importing data from source data files or from data held in the clipboard. An easy-to-use wizard guides you through the process of importing, allowing an Import Specification to be saved and used again. Any additional information can then be imported and added as it arrives, providing an up-to-date view of the available intelligence.
  • Powerful analytical capabilities

Analyst’s Notebook provides a range of analytical tools designed to help you convert high volumes of low value data into low volume high value intelligence. The range of analytical tools available includes the list items, entity matching, visual search, find path, find linked and cluster analysis.
  • Chart representations appropriate for differing data types

Charts can be created in a variety of formats in order to best present the type of data. Link charting represents people, accounts, organizations and other entities together with the relationships or transfers of commodities between them. Network charting applies link charting techniques to large data sets, such as social networks, telephone data, financial transactions and internet traffic records to identify groups and clusters. Timeline charting reveals how sequences of events unfold over time.
  • Integration

The benefits of Analyst's Notebook can be enhanced by combining it with other IBM i2 products. Options include adding a database for storage of data for use by a group of analysts (IBM i2 iBase), direct access to external databases, analysis of unformatted text and the tools to allow custom plug-ins to be developed.
